On Feb. 17 the annual Vermont 4-H Sheep Skill-A-Thon and Quiz Bowl event was held at Mary Hogan School in Middlebury. Vermont 4-H members involved with sheep projects gathered to learn and demonstrate their skills and knowledge in these challenge activities. In the morning participants moved through various stations where they had an opportunity to demonstrate their practical knowledge and skills about sheep and management. After lunch, they were joined by Dr. Brian Howlett who served as moderator for the Quiz Bowl. Grouped in teams, participants answered questions about all topics related to sheep. The challenge events were followed by an ice cream social. Highest score for senior members in the Skill-A-Thon was Amber Corliss of the Wonderful Woolies 4-H Club. Top senior scorer in the Quiz Bowl event was Megan Watrous of the Mt. Independence 4-H Club and Wonderful Woolies. High scoring intermediate in the Quiz Bowl event was a tie between Laura Galenkamp of Mt. Independence 4-H Club and Lucie Alden of the Hay Ewes 4-H Club. High scoring junior and novice group in the Quiz Bowl was Sonia Howlett of the Critter Creek 4-H Club.
