MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Addison County Chamber of Commerce will host its 17th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament. The event takes place on Friday, June 24, at Basin Harbor Club in Ferrisburgh. Participants will enjoy 18 holes of golf and an awards reception during which the 2011 scholarship recipient will be recognized. There will be several skills competitions including an exciting new feature of the tournament-three players will be randomly selected to take a shot at $1 million.
"The Addison County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship represents the single largest general scholarship awarded to students at the Hannaford Career Center. In these still tough economic times, it is vitally important to the students who receive it," said Lynn Coale, director, Hannaford Career Center.
"The students who have received the scholarship in the past have used it wisely and have become contributing members of their communities. We'd like to thank the members of the Addison County Chamber of Commerce for their continued support of this scholarship and the Patricia A. Hannaford Career Center. Of course if someone wins $1 million perhaps they'll consider endowing the scholarship," Coale added.
J.P. Carrara & Sons returns again as the event's major sponsor. Sponsorships and participation in the tournament make it possible to fund $4,000 each year in scholarships to graduates of the Hannaford Career Center.
