Thurman's annual Easter fest for children and families will be held April 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the town hall in Athol. Activities, planned for children up through age 12, include an Easter egg hunt, games and a visit by an Easter Bunny character.
Those seeking to help out with the event may bake some cookies or send vegetables and a dip. For other information on volunteering call 623-9961.

Now that spring is officially here, have you started the annual spring cleaning chores yet? Don't forget to set aside those gently-used but no longer wanted items to sell at a yard sale in May, when all of Thurman has sales during the town wide sale days.
The Thurman column was inadvertently omitted from publication in the March 13 edition of the Journal, and Journal production staff apologizes.
Did readers remember to jot down some memories from the good old days? The John Thurman Historical Society wants some short stories, some notes or facts that happened in those bygone years when everyone around seemed happier!

Terry Beadnell of Bowen Hill Road thanks those who brought in food dishes Feb. 27 for his last working lunch with the other town highway department employees, celebrating on his upcoming retirement. After 40 years working on the Thurman road crew, Terry decided to try a new venture and relax. He thanks the guys of the highway department and town board for their gifts.
Vern Harris of Buyce Road thanks the many people that he saw in his eight years of working for the town of Thurman, for the friendliness of everyone on his truck runs, and for their thoughtful deeds as he accomplished his many odd jobs from mowing lawns, to working on the cemeteries and even washing a few windows at the town hall.
Time change for weight-loss group
The Thurman T.O.P.S. weight loss group now meets at the town hall in Athol on Thursdays from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Group leader Jane Day can be reached at 696-1766 to answer questions.

Countryside Adult Home news
In February, residents at the Countryside Adult Home enjoyed attending scrapbooking classes and chatting with visitors stopping by, particularly those with pets.
There were lots of Valentine crafts activities, writing and passing out Valentines, a Valentine's party and games of Heart Bingo! A Mardi Gras celebration with St. Cecilia's youth group was enjoyed by all. Entertainers this month were Cliff and The Kitchen Pickers, Gordon and Jenny Graves, The Melodys with Emily, Valentine Bingo with 4-H members, and Karaoke Night.
