CLINTONVILLE-AuSable Valley Athletic Director Kurt Munson recently received some high praise from his peers in Section VII.
Munson was named the Athletic Director of the Year in Chapter 7 by the New York State Athletic Administrators Association.
"It's exciting, especially when your colleagues support you in this way," Munson said. "Several of them were at the awards dinner and our superintendent, Paul Savage, was there to present me with the award."
Munson said that there is really no difference between Chapter and Section VII other than how each organization names them.
"The Chapter is made up of the CVAC and MVAC schools, so it is basically a Section VII award," he said.
Munson credited the work that the entire athletic department has done in the area of sportsmanship as part of the reason behind the award.
"I feel that we have done a lot with sportsmanship," Munson said. "We have some new consolidated programs and we do a pretty good job with our relationship between the town commissions and our facilities to get more practices and activities in."
Munson said that the award is also an acknowledgement of the work that is done not only in the athletic department offices, but on the fields and in the school as well.
"This recognizes all of the hard work that is put in by our coaches and supporters as well as the school board and administration," Munson said. "It's not just about myself."
