The Riedingers of Bakers Mills are planning a mission trip to Costa Rica in the summer of 2013.
A family here will be holding a barn sale this weekend to raise money for a mission trip to Costa Rica.
Rob and Trena Riedinger need to collect enough money for their family — including five children ages 10 to 15 — to travel to Costa Rica next summer as part of the e3 Legacy program.
“Being that there are seven of us, this is a big deal, but certainly not too big for God,” Trena said. “e3 stands for evangelizing (telling others what God has done in our lives), equipping and establishing churches.”
The Riedingers are planning their trip for July 19-29, 2013.
According to the e3 Legacy program, family mission trips are designed to provide an effective means for parents to build a mission mindset in the hearts of their older elementary and high school-aged children. One of the goals is to strengthen their family’s bond and develop a Great Commission-oriented family by serving together on the mission field for a week.
“It was their mission statement that is on their website for their family part of their organization (and not all organizations allow families to go, especially ones with 10 year olds) that drew my heart to them, as it is why we feel so strongly about affording our kids this opportunity,” Trena said.
In Cost Rica, the Riedingers will have the opportunity to experience a different culture and make an impact on their lives by sharing with them the impact that God has made and makes on our lives.
“We have had and will continue to have different fundraisers to help make the money that we will need to go on this trip, but we are trusting that God will provide all that we will need and are excited to see how He will do this,” Trena said.
The trip will cost almost $15,000 for the entire family.
To start, the barn sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6-7, at their home at 307 Edwards Hill Road in Bakers Mills. For more information on how to help, contact the family at (518) 251-3270.
