TICONDEROGA, NY/SEBRING, FL. Carl Donald Bennett, 73, of Sebring, Florida and formerly of Ticonderoga, NY, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at his residence in Florida. Born in Ticonderoga, January 7, 1934, he was the son of the late Jesse J. and Mable R. (Duel) Bennett. Mr. Bennett was a resident of Ticonderoga for most of his life, before moving to Florida. He also lived in Alabama for a short time. He was employed by the International Paper Company of Ticonderoga for many years, until his retirement in 1992, and was a member of the Company's Quarter Century Club. Mr. Bennett was a member of the N.Y.S. National Guard. He was active in the Ticonderoga community, including serving on the Ticonderoga Ambulance Squad and the Ticonderoga Fire Department. He was also a Ticonderoga Little League Coach for many years. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Burton Bennett and Arnold Bennett; and by two sisters, Audrey Chase and Chloe Jean Jenkins. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ann (Orsmbee) Bennett; one son, James Bennett of Bishop, Georgia; one daughter, Kelley Noel of Ticonderoga; one sister, Hilda Troup of Ticonderoga; and four grandsons, Jason Bennett and Matthew Connery, both of Ticonderoga, Christopher Connery of Albany, and James Bennett II of Georgia. He is also survived by two granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service took place on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the family plot of the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Mr. Elliott A. Shaw officiated. Donations in his memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 12 Avis Drive, Latham, New York 12110.
