PLATTSBURGH-A Peru child molester had one charge dismissed by the Appelate Division of the State Supreme Court, reducing his sentence from 12 years to eight.
Geoffrey M. Hemingway, 30, was convicted in 2009 of three counts of first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. The appeals court decided there was not enough legal support to conclude Hemingway used physical force in his abuse of the child. The related charge was dismissed.
The rest of Hemingway's convictions still stand.
