CROWN POINT - The First Congregational Church of Crown Point will again host its annual Strawberry Festival.
Know as the "Brick Church in the Park," the church has planned the 2001 festival for Sunday, June 26, beginning at noon.
The Strawberry Festival will include local music and talent, vendors and an open invitation to the community to share the park with a community-wide lawn sale.
New this year will be chainsaw carving and vintage automobiles on display.
Radio station WOKO will again broadcast live from the event.
"Again, the food concessions will include hot dogs, sausages, Michigans with Peggy's famous sauce, as well as ice cream, chocolate-covered strawberries and our famous strawberry shortcake," Pastor David C. Hirtle said. "Many of the ingredients are made with foods from your favorite vendors."
The festival will also feature a s eries of drawings. Prizes will include gift cards from area businesses, a catered barbecue and items from participating vendors.
"Where last year was such a success, the church is again extending an open invitation to local vendors to participate, without cost or fee," Hirtle said.
Interested vendors should contact Gary at 597-3520 to secure a location in the park.
Hirtle said an amusement company has been invited to take part in the Strawberry Festival along with area church and civic groups.
