LAKE PLACID - The community of Lake Placid\North Elba has proclaimed the entire week of April 19 "National Volunteer Week."
The Lake Placid\North Elba Volunteer Week Committee is taking this opportunity to recognize the dedication of all the volunteers who give their time to the community. In April, the committee will honor community volunteers with a tree planting ceremony in Peacock Park and a reception to recognize the winner of the 2009 Distinguished Volunteer Award.
A Distinguished Volunteer award will be given in recognition of a lifetime of activity and effort on behalf of the town of North Elba and/or the village of Lake Placid. Volunteers do not have to reside in North Elba/Lake Placid, but the organization they are nominated for, and where they have performed their services, must be within the boundaries of North Elba.
For nominations forms, contact Margaret Marchuk, LPECVB director of events, at 523-2445, ext. 189. Forms must be completed and legible and include any individual or organization nominated as a candidate(s).
Those making nominations are encouraged to keep them confident as all nominees will not necessarily receive an award. Submissions should include as much pertinent information to support the nomination as possible and provide at least one contact in support of the nomination. Include name and telephone number of where the support person may be reached.
The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, March 31.
