Conroy's Organics to hold Farm Fest on Sept. 21.
Starting off the autumn season, Conroys Organics is inviting people to celebrate Farm Fest 2013 on Sept. 21.
Festivities will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at the farm located at 8173 Route 9.
The event is free to attend and will have something for the entire family with a hay playground set up for kids, hay rides around the farm, and a bouncy house.
While at the farm, people can meet their local producers and invest in local businesses. There will be wine tastings from local vineyards such as Vesco Ridge Vineyards, Amazing Grace, Champlain Wine Company and Stone House with bottles available for sale. There will also be samplings of hard cider from Everett Orchard.
Produce will also be for sale from Fledging Crow Farm based in Keeseville.
“Fledging Crow supplies a lot of the local restaurants with their produce,” said Conroys Organics Marketing Director, Elliot Daugherty. “The Farm Fest is going to bring together a lot of local talents and producers, it’s part of our mission to educate our community about the importance of keeping it local.”
Local artists will also have tables showing work by Gharan Burton who will be selling his oil and acrylic paintings and wood carvings.
There will be handmade jewelry from local artists such as Lindsay Conroy also available for sale.
Setting the scene for the day’s festivities there will be live folk performances by female folk musicians, Punkahontas. The band will play from noon to 2 p.m.
Tim Hartnett and Friends will perform between Punkahontas and the New York City-based folk band, Mooncrashers. Mooncrashers will play from about 2 to 4 p.m.
