LAKE GEORGE - The North Warren field hockey team demonstrated how it's indeed having a turnaround year as it racked up a 2-1 win Sept. 24, over Lake George, which has a far larger enrollment.
This victory, however, was not easy.
The two teams battled through two overtime periods before the Cougars could claim its win.
Kiera Warner scored in the final minute of the second overtime to secure the game.
Kim Bennett also scored a goal for North Warren, with teammate Caitlyn Kenney feeding her the ball.
Jenna Bechard scored for Lake George on an assist by Jesse Pagnotta.
With the win, North Warren advances to 2-1 in the Adirondack League. Lake George slips to 0-4 in the league.
North Warren outshot Lake George 9 to 4, and had 17 penalty corners to Lake George's 11.
WARRENSBURG - The Burgher field hockey team continued its struggle to remain in title contention as it lost to northern rival Johnsburg Sept. 24, by a score of 3-0. Johnsburg's Hailey West scored twice and contributed an assist.
Panther Ashley Loomis also scored a goal. Both goalies were busy in the game, as Johnsburg's Cassandra Prouty had five saves and Warrensburg's Kacey Duell had eight.
With the win, Johnsburg improved to 2-1 in the Adirondack League, and Warrensburg slid to 1-3.

CHESTERTOWN - North Warren's Kiera Warner scored deep into the first overtime to capture an Adirondack League victory for her team Sept. 22, over Warrensburg.
Annie Bennett fed Warner the ball for the goal.
For the initial goal, Cougar Lindsay Schlage scored on an assist by Margot Broderick.
Chiara Russo, assisted by Kate Kuklinski, provided the Burghers' goal in the well-matched game.

LAKE GEORGE - Lake George field hockey team was overrun by Hoosick Falls Sept. 22, in non-league game.
Alyssa Schneider and Amelia Reynolds each scored two goals in the victory.
Warrior Carrie Stewart made seven saves for her team.
