NORTH CREEK - A new version of the Gore Mountain Region Chamber of Commerce directory is now making its way through local communities.
It boasts sharper images, better quality paper and shows evidence of a boost in membership, according to past president Edward Milner.
"We want to encourage people to think regionally," said Milner. "When we help each other out, we are able to accomplish so much more."
The directory lists both chamber members as well as non-member local businesses that stretch from Lake George throughout the region to the towns of Long Lake and Indian Lake.
"The large number of businesses in the region as well as the wide array of things to do throughout the area surprises some people," said Dave Bulmer, Gore Mountain Regional Chamber of Commerce president.
This is the second annual reprint of the document since its last edition in 1998 and is the first to feature the new branded logo for the Gore Mountain region. The project was funded through town of Johnsburg occupancy tax funds as well as advertising.
After facing several delays, the directory was release last week and the chamber plans to release a revised edition each year to follow.
Both Milner and Bulmer spoke to the purposes of the directory - engaging people in local businesses and events as well as garner interest in the efforts of the Gore Mountain Region Chamber of Commerce.
"The chamber is a vibrant and growing organization and we hope people will consider joining us," said Bulmer.
"Improved communication between people and businesses is necessary in this area," said Milner. "We want to let people know what's going on."
Directories are available at the chamber office as well as chamber accommodations members.
The chamber acknowledges that they hope the directory continues to improve each year and welcome feedback from the public. The Gore Mountain Region Chamber of Commerce can be reached at their office in North Creek at 251-2612.
