CHESTERTOWN - Several lucky North Warren families will soon be able to combat soaring food prices while dozens of others in the community help support local students.
The North Warren Booster Club is holding a Grocery Raffle offering three shopping sprees.
The drawing is to be held March 2, so people are urged to buy their tickets as soon as possible, Club secretary Tanya May said this week.
The first prize winner in the raffle will receive $500 in groceries at Wal-Mart; the runner-up will receive a $250 in goods from Grand Union, and the third-prize winner will get $100 worth of merchandise from Stewart's stores.
Raffle tickets are available at $10 each from McCluskey's Hardware, Living Floors, and Upstate Insurance Agency.
Those with questions may call North Warren Booster Club President Amy Peet at 494-5400.
In December, Nelson Gould won $1,000 worth of oil bought by the newly formed North Warren Booster Club in a raffle the group held as a fundraiser.
Club representatives say they wish to express thanks to all those who participated in either of the drawings - by selling tickets, or by purchasing them.
Dormant for many years, the North Warren Booster Club was launched in fall 2008 on behalf of the students and their school-related activities,Tanya May said.
She said that the Booster Club will be raising money for field trips, uniforms, Varsity jackets, extracurricular equipment and activities that aren't already funded by the school.
Those who would like to become involved in planning and conducting North Warren Booster Club activities are urged to contact Amy Peet at 494-5400.
