Willsboro Senior Housing, Corp. has been awarded a grant of $2,000 from the Special and Urgent Needs Fund at the Adirondack Community Trust. Additionally, the housing project located in Willsboro was also awarded a grant of $500 from the Essex Community Fund at the Adirondack Community Trust.
Both of these grants have been used to purchase a generator for the common areas of the building. With these generous donations, as well as interested community members’ donations and Willsboro Senior Housing funds, a generator was purchased at state contract pricing.
“Now that the ground is thawed, we will dig a trench to our propane tank so the generator can be installed,” Laura Lacey, Manager of Willsboro Senior Housing, Corp., said. “Once this is accomplished, we will have stand-by power to the common areas of our building. This will give power, including heat, stove, microwave and security system to the community room, public bathroom, laundry room and hallway. This will serve as a stop gap measure for our tenants to give everyone time to get the town emergency shelters set up and transport tenants to the facilities at Willsboro Fire Department or Willsboro Central School.”
It is expected this work can be completed by May 1.
