Jazz on a Summer Night at the Islands Center for Arts and Recreation at Knight Point State Park (ICAR) will inaugurate its series of Tuesday evening concerts with Jenni Johnson and the Jazz Junketeers on Tuesday, July 8 at 7 p.m. The concerts will be held on the meadow at Knight Point. Bring a picnic, a blanket and your best buddies and enjoy a fabulous concert with one of the regions best-loved performers and her talented band. North Hero House will provide a cash bar service during the performance. Tickets are $15 and are available at the Lake Champlain Islands Chamber of Commerce 802-372-8400. Proceeds will go towards a permanent pavilion to cover the arena built for Lipizzan performances. The first ten ticket holders will be allowed to choose a song for Jenni and her band to perform! Renaissance woman Jenni Johnson is a self taught vocalist who has performed internationally for audiences inYaroslavl and Rostov, Russia and Paris, France. Bob Gagnon studied jazz guitar and arranging at Ithaca College where he received his degree in English, and later studied at Saint Michael's College. Andy Smith, bassist, is a graduate of the Crane School of Music, Potsdam, N.Y., and Plymouth State College, Plymouth, N.H. Andy has toured across the United States, Europe and parts of Asia. Bruce McKenzie, drummer, began his drumming career at age eleven by studying with Julliard graduate Boyd Cheesman. Tony Pietricola, saxophone and clarinet, graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Music Degree. Mark Van Gulden, vibraphone, passionately interprets the sounds of India, Eastern and Western Europe, Spain, Brazil, and American Jazz. Proceeds from this summers performances will go towards a fund to build the pavilion.
