ELLENBURG DEPOT - The Northern Adirondack Central School District board of education has board seats that will be on the ballot for the 2011-12 school year.
A five-year term held by Daniel Cayea and four-year term held by Sarah Lawrence will be up for a vote. Candidates interested in running for either position must be qualified voters of the district who are able to read and write, are U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, and a resident of the district for at least one year prior to the election.
Board members may not reside with a family member who is presently on the board of education and cannot be a school employee.
Those interested in running must submit a petition signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the district to district clerk Helen Yelle. Petitions must describe the specific vacancy for which the candidate is nominated, including the length of term of office and the name of the last incumbent.
Submissions may be made at the district office, 5572 U.S. Route 11, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, April 18, when the office will stay open to accept final submissions.
