PLATTSBURGH Jonathan R. Bell isnt afraid to talk trash or businessconsidering for him, the two are one in the same.
Mr. Bell owns and operates Neighborhood Garbage Company, State Route 190, just outside the city of Plattsburgh. The business has been Mr. Bells livelihood since March 2005, when he took $12,000 to invest in what was initially a part-time operation hauling garbage and recyclables for customers across Clinton County.
Starting with a modest route three years ago, Neighborhood Garbage Company has grown into one of the most prominent names in refuse hauling services in the North Country. With a staff of four and a growing fleet of three trucks, Mr. Bell and his employees work diligently to provide the best pick-up services for their customers dollars.
We try to keep costs down as much as possible for our customers, explained Mr. Bell. We even hand-deliver our bills instead of mailing them, saving on postage. It may not sound like a lot, but every way we can save money for our customers, we do.
And that kind of service and attention to the bottom line is winning over customers. With more than 1,200 customers, Neighborhood Garbage Company is gaining popularity across the County.
Business is nothing new to Mr. Bell. Having two years of business training and working for the state for three years, he has learned the ins and outs of making any venture successful, with Neighborhood Garbage Company being no exception.
The most recent success of Mr. Bells business can be noted with the addition of commercial refuse pick-up services added in March. Of the seventy-five commercial dumpsters with which his business started earlier this year, twenty-six have been reserved with more interested gaining in the business services each day.
Weve really been busy, Mr. Bell said with a smile.
Keeping in mind his desire to continue the business growth, Mr. Bell has plans for the business to add a fourth garbage truck to its fleet in March 2008, when Neighborhood Garbage Company will celebrate its fourth year in business.
Neighborhood Garbage Company covers the following municipalities on the following days: Monday Beekmantown, Altona, Sciota, Mooers, Ellenburg, Ellenburg Center, Ellenburg Depot, Champlain, Chazy, West Chazy and Rouses Point; Wednesday Cumberland Head, West Plattsburgh, Saranac, Redford, Au Sable Forks, Clayburg, Dannemora and the town of Plattsburgh north of State Route 3; Thursday the city of Plattsburgh town of Plattsburgh south of Route 3; and Friday Morrisonville, Schuyler Falls, Peru, Keeseville and Harkness.
