Shortly after midnight Tuesday morning, an ambulance heading to CVPH Medical Center left the roadway.
The patient being transported made it to the hospital, along with two crew members. But a third crew member was pronounced dead at the scene.
New York State Police are investigating the accident that claimed Eric Monty’s life.
At roughly 20 minutes after midnight on Tuesday morning, an ambulance from Champlain EMS was involved in an accident when it left the roadway on Route 190 near the Duley Road, according to information provided by Eric Day, director of the Clinton County Office of Emergency Services.
The ambulance stationed at the Mooers Fire Department had responded as mutual aid to the Altona Fire District and was transporting a patient to CVPH Medical Center at the time of the accident.
The ambulance was staffed by a crew of three EMS members and was the only vehicle involved in the accident.
The original patient on board was transported to CVPH Medical Center in stable condition.
Susan Roberts and Peter Coulombe, both crew members, were transported to CVPH in serious condition, with one admitted and the other then transferred to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington with a head injury.
The Clinton County Coroner pronounced Eric Monty, the third crew member, dead at the scene.
The accident is under investigation by the New York State Police.
