Sectional tournament play is underway, and the Lake George baseball and softball teams are in the top echelon of their respective divisions, while ball teams of Warrensburg and North Warren will be looking to fight for the top spots. Lake George Varsity Baseball team is the No. 1 seed in Section IIs CC division. They will play at home 11 a.m. Saturday against the winner of Thursdays game between Hoosic Falls and Watervliet. The Lake George Varsity Softball team is the No. 2 seed in Section IIs CC division. They are scheduled to play at 4:15 Saturday against a lower-seeded team at The Dome sports complex in Queensbury. The Warrensburg Softball team, seeded No. 6 in Class C. was playing Waterford at press time Thursday. If they beat their opponent, theyll advance to the next round of play in a game at Clifton Commons, 3 p.m. Monday. Warrrensburgs Varsity Baseball team will looking to upset Duanesburg at 11 a.m. Saturday on the Eagles home turf. Warrensburgs squad will include Freshman Catcher/Outfielder Mike Curtis and Sophomore Infielder Jason Power, who were both brought up from Junior Varsity. Duanesburg, a member of the Western Athletic conference, boasts at 21- 3 record going into Sectionals. Burgher Coach Rex Reynolds said his squad will have to play their best and catch the Eagles off-guard. Were going to throw the kitchen sink at em, he said. This is known as the second season, and everyone starts out even. He said his team would be following a strategy that gave them a string of upset victories in recent weeks. Well be focusing on getting some early runs, while trying to shut their bats down with stingy defense, he said. North Warren, Class Ds No. 5 seed, is scheduled to play Schenectady Christian 4 p.m. Saturday in Schenectady. The Bolton Central Softball team got seeded No. 6 in Section 7, and was scheduled to play Westport, seeded No. 11, on Thursday afternoon.
