PLATTSBURGH The State Employees Federated Appeal annual fundraising campaign has officially kicked off across the North Country, with a committee aiming to raise more than $200,000.
The committee recently met at the United Way of Clinton and Essex Counties Inc. for the kickoff and to review fundraising guidelines and strategies. The annual campaign targets approximately 7,188 state employees in the four-county area and provides them with an opportunity to pledge contributions to a variety of local, national and international charities.
The local United Way coordinates the SEFA campaign in Hamilton, Franklin, Essex and Clinton counties, with the campaign overseen and operated by a regional SEFA committee. The committee is comprised of representatives from state agencies and facilities, charities, unions and management from throughout the four counties.
Last year, the SEFA committee was successful in raising $191,022.25 among state employees for participating charities and federations.
State employees in this area are very generous and caring people and our committee does a great job raising much needed dollars for important purposes, said Wayne Rabideau. Mr. Rabideau, an employee at Altona Correctional Facility and member of the Public Employee Federation Union, serves as committee chair and loaned executive for the campaign.
The SEFA campaign is a great asset to our community and beyond, said local United Way executive director John C. Bernardi. I am very proud to be a part of it and to work with a great group of people.
