SARANAC LAKE - The Tri-Lakes Uninsured Task Force is looking for business owners or managers and area employees who do not currently have health insurance, or are concerned that they are going to have to drop their coverage.
Residents or businesses falling into one of these categories are invited to participate in focus group discussions being held between Jan.. 22 and Jan. 29. In return for their one-hour commitment to participate, those who attend will be provided a free meal and a $50 stipend.
The purpose of the focus groups is to help members of the Uninsured Task Force understand what factors, in addition to cost, are preventing local businesses and their employees from having (or keeping) health insurance.
These meetings represent the first step in a planning process that will ultimately lead to expansion of programs and services designed to support small businesses in their efforts to offer health insurance benefits to their employees.
Six focus group meetings have been scheduled as follows:
•Thursday, Jan. 2, noon-1:30 p.m. in Tupper Lake
•Friday, Jan. 23, noon-1:30 p.m. in Saranac Lake
•Monday, Jan. 26, 5:30-7p.m. in Tupper Lake
•Tuesday, Jan. 27, noon-1:30 p.m. in Lake Placid and 5:30-7 p.m. in Saranac Lake
•Thursday, Jan. 29, 5:30-7 p.m. in Lake Placid
