To the Times of Ti:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Department of Transportation workers at the Severance Shop. What a great job they did this summer in preparing the underdrainage and shoulders for blacktopping on Route 9 between Schroon Lake and North Hudson.
Route 9 between North Hudson and Schroon Lake was an absolutely terrible road but, because of the extensive work needed, the State of New York estimated that a bid would cost taxpayers $15 to 20 million for complete restoration of about seven miles of road. Funding was not possible in the near future. By using the resources available, namely the state workers, Regional Engineer Mike Fayette and General Foreman Rick Gero, this project was down-sized and the time table was greatly expedited.
The taxpayers came out the big winners. What a refreshing change. The project is all but complete. Thanks to all involved and continue North on Route 9. The results are excellent.
