INDIANLAKE-Sylvia Markson and her magic trunk will bring some life and a little bit of magic to Indian Lake's Winterfest this year.
The inaugural performance of Sylvia and The Magic Truck - a mix of comedy, magic and ventriloquism will take place Sunday, Feb. 20, at 2p.m. at the Indian Lake Ski Hut on Route 30.
Markson hails from the Albany region and tours throughout the northeast with a well-traveled trunk, containing a host of puppets she magically brings to life through ventriloquism, instilling a belief a puppet can truly talk.
Her talents began at a young age and she taught herself from the pages of an instructional book.
"It's the only way you can do it," said Markson. "I read a lot. I practiced, and that's how I learned it."
Her cast includes Chito, a wise cracking Latino opossum, an outspoken Southern bird who loves to steal the show, a Genie who lives in a bottle, a talking picture and much more.
Markson has been performing professionally for about 15 years and finds delight in creating different and original characters for her shows.
