Welcome to a new, expanded weekly Eagle. As you may have noticed by our new banner-we're "The Eagle" now; we're not just the Addison Eagle anymore.
As daily newspapers in our region decline in circulation they have also increased their advertising rates, increased their per issue prices, and trimmed the sizes of their broadsheet format. Instead, New Market Press's expanded Eagle has increased its free circulation, retained its convenient tabloid format, and now embraces southern Chittenden County.
In addition to serving our Addison County readers and advertisers, we have expanded north. We're now serving folks in a southwest to northeast corridor that includes communities from Charlotte to Richmond.
To create the new Eagle, we've dovetailed our Times Sentinel weekly right into the Eagle, so we can now provide our advertisers in both counties with a bigger, more powerful reach-we now mail our free newspaper to over 14,000 homes spanning both counties, with the new addition of 1,000 copies delivered to Chittenden County stores. The good news is that there are zero changes to our advertising rates. As a result, you'll now be able to find the Eagle in more homes and on more newsstands than ever before.
If you're an advertiser, please compare the Eagle's big new reach with our various competitors.
In tough times, when you need to maximize your advertising dollar, the new Eagle is poised to get you even better results. And please don't be fooled by peer pressure, misinformed opinion, or even biased perceptions when making your advertising decisions-you should buy your print advertising in a weekly publication that is seen by more eyes than ever before. In these tough times, old excuses not to advertise, such as "I have all the business I need", just don't make practical sense. Now is the time to advertise.
If you doubt our words, please request a copy of our latest independent audit report. None of our competitors can provide you with as much independently confirmed demographic data about readers and advertising as the Eagle and our other free newspaper, the Rutland Tribune.
Let us know how we're doing. Feel free to submit letters to the editor (we publish letters other papers refuse to run), story ideas, even photographs. We welcome all community and religious groups , If you feel left out of other newspapers, be a part of ours.
As we grow, we will continue to thank our advertisers and readers for their ongoing support. Your support has contributed to our expanding success.
