NORTH CREEK The Alpine Lodge, a Main Street landmark, was unveiled this week during a Gore Mountain Region Chamber of Commerce celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony. The lodges opening marks a significant and highly visible improvement to the areas lodging capacity. Featuring 14 guest rooms and seven suites, the Adirondack-style architecture blends well within the community, including an exterior modeled after the regions classic Great Camps. Owned by Greg and Sharon Taylor of Chestertown, the couple is well known for their extensive renovation and development of the historic Friends Lake Inn. In addition to the Alpine Lodge property, they also own and operate the luxury Fern Lodge resort, on Friends Lake. Along with its guest rooms, the Alpine Lodge features a common Great Room with fireplace, period architecture, and unique amenities such as in-room jacuzzis and (gas) wood-stoves. Our Lodge accommodations are intricately decorated in the style of an historical Adirondack Great Camp, says the Lodges promotional material. This Adirondack Style was branded by famous industrialists and financiers from the end of the Civil War, which has in turned transpired throughout the years. At Alpine Lodge, the rustic quality of historic architecture meshes with the beautiful detail of today's infrastructure.
