HINESBURG - The Hinesburg Artist Series will present its annual Hinesburg Community Christmas Concert Sunday, Dec. 14, at 4:30 p.m. at St. Jude Church in Hinesburg. The South County Chorus, HAS Orchestra, and harpist Grace Cloutier will perform traditional Christmas music and new twists on old favorites, all under the direction of Rufus Patrick.
The program will feature selections from Handel's "Messiah," traditional carols including "Ding Dong Merrily on High" and "Do You Hear What I Hear?" as well as a unique Craig Courtney arrangement of "The 12 Days of Christmas" that has each of the 12 days sung in the styles of different composers and periods, from Chant to Vivaldi, through Tchaikovsky, Wagner, and others.
Harpist Grace Cloutier again will join the HAS performers as the featured artist, and will be sharing some selections from her new Christmas CD, entitled "Winter Solace." Cloutier trained at the Juilliard School, Yale University, and in France. She has performed before audiences across the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East, and her solo debut at Carnegie Hall was in May 2006 as first prize winner of the International Competition of Artists International.
The concert is presented by the Hinesburg Artist Series and is free to all. Donations are greatly appreciated, and everyone is encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the Hinesburg Food Shelf.
