The Newcomb Steak Roast parade is a tradition for the fire department
NEWCOMB — The Newcomb Volunteer Fire and Rescue will hold its 47th Annual Steak Roast and parade on Saturday, July 28 at the Newcomb town beach.
The event will kick off with the parade beginning at noon at Pine Tree Lane.
Dinner will begin shortly after the parade at 1 p.m. The meal will be $15 per person and will include a steak, baked potato, sweet corn, cole slaw, dinner roll and a beverage. Hamburger, hot dogs, sweet corn, chips and a soda are also available on the a la carte menu.
Diners will be able to enjoy live music from pop rock and contemporary band The Butchers beginning at 1 p.m.
Anthony Musso, a member of the Newcomb Volunteer Fire Department, said the Steak Roast is the main fundraising event of the year for the department. At last year’s event, the 750 steaks were all sold out.
“We had more than 800 people come through getting steaks and some hamburgers,” Musso said. “The community really shows the department a lot of support by coming out every year.”
Musso said the event is truly a community event with some members donating up to 1,200 ears of corn, and others helping out to prep the food. He said it makes all the difference to have the people stand behind their local emergency squad and fire department.
Tickets are available at the High Peaks Golf Course, 47 Santanoni Dr.; W.D. Country Store, 8 Adams Lane; Scoops, Bissell Loop; Bissell’s Store, 14 Bissell Loop; Newcomb House Bar and Grill, 5699 State Route 28N; and High Peak Kitchen & Camp.
