SARANAC LAKE The Adirondack Arc and Magic Hat Brewery present The Mountain Music Melt Down 08, a two day Music Festival featuring a mix of many genres of musiccovering bluegrass, jam, folk, country, rock, blues and world. The festival will be presented at The North Country Community College Soccer Field in Saranac Lake, Saturday, August 9 and Sunday, August 10. Gates will open at 11:30 a.m. There will be a inflatable play area for children and the event is family friendly. The festival will be held rain-or-shine, and blankets and lawn chairs are welcome coolers, however, will not be permitted. Thirteen-plus bands slated to perform National and International groups slated so far: Dark Star Orchestra (DSO ) recreating The Grateful Dead experience; Country/Bluegrass/ Folk-Rock Veteran Chris Hillman Band (of The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Desert Rose Band and Souther Hillman Furay Band ); regional favorite Donna The Buffalo; The Zen Tricksters; King Wilkie; Juggling Suns; The Horse Flies; Enter The Haggis; Twiddle; Chaz Depaolo Group; Crow Party; Raisinhead; and Sven Curth. Food & Beverage garden Offering a variety of tasty food and beverage options: The Adirondack Arc, hamburgers and soda; Woodys Hot Dog Cart; The Masons, italian sausage and peppers; Ben & Jerrys Ice Cream; and Jreck Subs, to name a few. Merchandise and craft vendors Festival t-shirts, hats and other items will be available as well as other merchants and crafts people displaying their wares. Celebrity autographed instruments will be auctioned off Sunday at 6 p.m. Sunday will be dedicated to celebrating the life and music of Jerry Garcia and is sponsored by Ben & Jerrys Ice Cream featuring their name sake flavor Cherry Garcia with a portion of the ice cream sale benefiting The Adirondack Arc.
