RAY BROOK - New York State Adirondack Park Agency Chairman Curtis F. Stiles has announced new operating hours for its two Visitor Interpretive Centers at Newcomb and Paul Smiths.
The VICs will now be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday year-round. While the buildings are closed Sunday and Monday, the trail systems will stay open every day from dawn until dusk. This is a continuance of the new winter schedule, which was instituted Nov. 1, 2008, as part of an energy-savings program that helped the agency meet Gov. David Paterson's mandate for state agencies to reduce spending.
