LAKE GEORGE An artists Studio Tour this weekend throughout the region is featuring eight artists in Lake George, Chestertown, Warrensburg, North Creek and Diamond Point. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the participating artists in their studios--in a converted factory, renovated barns, farmhouses, newly-designed spaces. The artists include painters, sculptors, potters, jewelers, photographers, new rustic artists, and those employing textiles, and mixed media. The artists studios will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sat. Aug. 9 and Sunday Aug. 10. For specific directions to take you from one gallery to another, see: www.northcountryartscenter.org\Ncst.htm Featured are oil painter Betsy Krebs at the Old Stone School House Studio & Gallery, 229 Middle Rd. Lake George; and Christopher and Charlene Leary, with fiber and wearable art, at Blue Heron Designs, 604 Truesdale Hill Road, Lake George. Next up is painter Mary Chaffee Frank with her watercolors, inks, and mixed media at 16 Orton Drive, Warrensburg; followed by watercolorists Jan Palmer and Kate Hartley both off 13th Lake Rd. in North River. Next is Bill Knoble of Red Truck Pottery, just south of Chestertown on Rte. 9featuring his high fired, functional, everyday usable stoneware and porcelain in an array of colors and hand painted designs. The tour then takes people to the studios of landscape painters Bill and Nancy Rogal on Walker Point Lane, Bolton, then to the studio of Ruth Viktoria Ward and visiting artists at 999 Wall Street in Diamond Point. Ward creates mixed media works including oil on bark and wood, encaustic painting, photography, wearable art and jewelry. Visiting artist Stefanie Taylor presents her one-of-a-kind jewelry-textured metal with stones that evoke Africa and the American Southwest. Sculptural installations in the fields surround Wards barn creations including found objects. She can be reached at 668-2289.
