WARRENSBURG - The local Assessor is offering to hold a public informational meeting explaining the assessment process - but only if enough people pledge in advance to attend.
Warrensburg Town Assessor Gregory Klingler said this week he would host an open workshop at 7 p.m. March 9 for Warrensburg property owners if 25 or more residents call his office soon and make reservations to attend. The meeting would be held at the Emerson Memorial Town Hall on Main St. in Warrensburg.
The proposed workshop is designed to inform property owners of how the assessment process works, what types of exemptions there are, and how to apply for exemptions - although the deadline for filing exemptions expires Feb. 28.
A question & answer period is also planned for the event.
The meeting would include a video presentation outlining assessing practices, plus include remarks by guest speaker John Stack from the New York State Regional Office of Real Property Services. Warren County Director of Real Property Michael Swan is also scheduled to participate.
Citizens are asked to call the town of Warrensburg assessor's office at 623-3300 before March 6 to make a reservation.
"We hope it will be a productive 'meet and greet' session," Klingler said.
