Again we are really getting our share of snow and more on the way. Be careful in all your travels. We love the Adirondacks and some even like the outdoor sports. I am not one of them.
Glens Falls Hospital and the ambulance crews sure have been busy with so many in our area. So many have been transported to hospital recently. Bette Galusha, Fletcher Conlon, Ron Allen, Carrie Mason, Arlene West all have been able to go home. We wish them all a good recovery.
Gary and Missy Russell Reed entertained Nathan and Jan Russell, Mary Russell, Alvin and Jean Russell one day last week to celebrate Mary, Jean and Nathan's birthdays.
Sorry to hear about the death of Gloria Hammond Thompson and Leo Morehouse.
Dick and Suzy Virgil had a late Christmas Eve gathering at their home on Saturday afternoon. Dick was in the hospital for Christmas.
Traci Kramar, Eve Carmody and Sarah Beth Lay.
Enjoy each and every day.
Neighbors helping Neighbors
Greetings and Happy New Year from the board and volunteers of the North Country Outreach Center. Although national media sources heralded 2010 as the year that the recession began to subside, we in the North Country saw very little change in the economic environment surrounding our small hamlets and towns. In the spirit of our motto, "Neighbors helping Neighbors," we are fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the year to provide services and programs to aid their neighbors and fellow community members.
As we move into 2011, the Outreach Center is bustling with activity. The Food Pantry is currently serving a record number of families, providing healthy, nutritious food as well as counseling and assistance services with regards to food stamp applications. The clothing center is likewise open and stocked with essential clothing and outerwear. For something a little special, the boutique within the clothing center contains many items in various sizes.
In addition to these two mainstay programs, the Center also offers a free GED program, children's play group and community garden, to name a few.
Watch for our logo and column every week in the News Enterprise for news and upcoming events. 2011 is going to be an exciting year for the North Country Outreach Center and we look forward to moving ahead and continuing to be "Neighbors helping Neighbors."
