POTTERSVILLE Can you sing? Enter the second annual Adirondack Idol Competition and win cash prizes. Open auditions are every Friday in November and December from 9 p.m. until midnight at the Black Bear Restaurant in Pottersville. There is no age minimum or limit to qualify; however, minor applicants must be accompanied by a parent or adult family member. Auditionees must fill out an envelope with their name and address on the front, and telephone number on the back. Ten finalists will be notified by phone and by mail prior to Jan. 1. All finalists must attend final competitions every third Friday night from the first Friday in January, 2008, until June 20, or until they are voted out, whichever occurs first. Finals start the first Friday of the year, which is Jan. 4. Each finalist will sing a song of their choice and the audience will then vote for their favorite finalist. The votes will be tallied within the hour and the one finalist with the fewest votes will be informed at that time that they were voted out. The voted out finalist will receive $10 in consolation. The remaining finalists will choose a genre from country, pop, rock, big band or rhythm and blues. The finalists will agree on a genre for the next competition. The competition will continue in similar fashion every third Friday night in January, February, March, April, and May. Weather-related cancellations will place the competition on the following Friday night. On June 20, there will be two finalists left: the winner and the runner up. They will sing and votes will be cast and the first and second place winners will be announced and prize purses will be awarded. The competition purse will be $1,000 or more. The purse will be divided among the first (75 percent) and second (25 percent) place finalists. For further information call 251-5664 or 484-9972.
