AU SABLE FORKS A benefit spaghetti dinner for Charlie Cornick will take place on Sunday, Nov. 18 at the American Legion Post 504 in Au Sable Forks. The dinner starts at 2 p.m., and runs until 5 p.m. Take out will be available. Tanya Stevens, Cornicks youngest daughter, is coordinating the event with other family members. Stevens said she hoped the event would help her father catch up on doctors bills and household expenses. I think it is important for everyone that can attend to attend to show my dad that he is loved and that we are all pulling for him all friends and family and anyone else that would like show support, said Stevens. The event will feature entertainment by G&B DJ services and Barbie and the Golden Notes with Donnie Perkins joining them by request. Along with entertainment, there will be several auctions to raise funds. There will be a silent auction, chinese auction, and raffle. A slide show and a live auction will close the evening about 7 p.m. Cornick is a life long resident of Jay, and has been married to his wife, Nancy, for 48 years. The couple has four children. Cornick owned Cornick & Cornick Transportation, a tractor trailer hauling company, and Cornick Builders. He retired roughly around 1995 due to heart complications and diabetes. To complicate matters, Stevens said that her mother, Nancy, suffered a heart attack on Nov. 7, and was admitted to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. She added that it had been hard, since Charlie Cornick is currently in Meadowbrook in Plattsburgh. My dad has been a hard worker all his life and an excellent provider for his family and I thought this was the least I could do for my dad, said Stevens. Tickets are $8 and are available at The Little Super Market in Wilmington, Devins Deli/Devins Garage in Jay and also any of Charlie's family or at the door. Those unable to attend the event, but wishing to make a donation, can send checks by mail to Tanya Stevens, PO Box 393 Wilmington, 12997. For more information, call 946-7345.
