LAKE PLACID - The 2011 Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge has been canceled, according to its organizer, the Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project Inc., Chester, Conn.
The challenge, traditionally held the first weekend after New Year's Day, has brought NASCAR and National Hot Rod Association drivers together for the past five years to race modified bobsleds. The event raised funds to further research and development for the Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project, which produces American-made bobsleds for the U. S. men's and women's Olympic teams.
"The Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge was a five-year plan. We are in the process of developing a different event format incorporating the stars of NASCAR and the NHRA for the future," said Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project president Phil Kurze. "We will have more information about this later in the winter."
