Harvest food drive
Fall in Upstate New York is marked by bountiful harvests. But not all of our neighbors share in that bounty. Letter carriers who walk our neighborhoods see the many faces of hunger daily: Working poor, fixed-income seniors, children at risk, families in crisis. On Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20, local letter carriers will conduct their annual Harvest Food Drive. While our dates have changed, our mission has not. Postal customers are asked to place a non-perishable food item at their home mailbox. Letter carriers then return the canned and boxed goods to pantries within the communities they serve. Glass items cannot be accepted. For nearly 20 years, postal customers have supported the carriers' food drive because the need and the results are close to home. For many sites, the letter carrier collection represents the largest annual contribution received by a local charity. We are proud to provide a special delivery that makes it possible. This is a first-class community. Your friends and neighbors with the Postal Service thank you in advance as you deliver for your neighbors in need yet again. Library news
