BOLTON - Those who come to Bolton Central School soon to vote on the school district's 2011-12 budget are likely to be offered cookies, a slide show and an exit poll.
The voting takes place from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday May 17 in the Bolton Central School gym lobby. Bolton's Senior Seminar students will serve iced tea and cookies, provided by the BCS Student Council as a "Thank you" to the community for their support.
Students stationed outside the polling area will ask voters to complete an exit poll while they are waiting for their refreshments. The survey will be voluntary, anonymous, and offered to every voter, Superintendent Ray Ciccarelli said.
"This is one of many tools that our Board of Education will use to gain public feedback that will assist in making informed decisions in the future," he said.
The poll will gather information on how voters voted and why, where they obtain information on school finances and policy, and basic demographic data. The results will be analyzed and shared in an upcoming newsletter and on the district's website.
Meanwhile in the BCS cafeteria, the BCSOuting Club will hold a slide show and potluck dinner beginning at 6 p.m. The presentation will feature photos from the Outing Club's most recent trip to California during spring recess, which included trips to Death Valley and Yosemite National Parks, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Exploratorium in San Francisco.
