Warrensburg 60, Hadley Luzerne 53
WARRENSBURG - Warrensburg toughened up their defense and went on a fourth-quarter scoring rampage Tuesday Feb. 8 to defeat Hadley-Luzerne in the third quarter against Hadley-Luzerne 60-53 in this Adirondack League game. With his 13-point streak, Mike Curtis was primarily responsible for leading the Burghers in a game-ending rally of 25 points.
Curtis totaled 20 points with two three-pointers while Tyler Williams and John Joseph each had 15 points in the win. Nick Monroe had three points and Aaron Seeley finished with two.
Josh Densmore and Devin Waite each had 15 points and three three-pointers apiece in the loss.
Lake George 60, Lake George 31
LAKE GEORGE - Alex Hladik put up big numbers with 31 points to power Lake George to a victory over North Warren after being tied at the half Tuesday, Feb. 8.
Sports observers were surprised, however that the scrappy, athletic Cougars held up so well against the far taller team that is now ranked No. 2 in the state.
Matt McGowan tallied a double-double of 10 rebounds and 11 points for the Warriors, who outscored North Warren 41-12 in the second half.
For the Warriors, Aaron Chambers put up six points, Matt Stover had five, Jeff Maldonado had three while J.D. Jenkins and Erik Jones had two points apiece in the game.
Ethan Schenke led North Warren with 14 points and one three-pointer. Joe Aiken followed with 11 and three three-pointers, Benn Frasier put up three, Travis Monroe had two and Nick Sapienza finished with one point.
Lake George 73, Corinth 39
CORINTH - Lake George continued their undefeated streak as Alex Hladik put up 20 of his game-high 28 points with five three-pointers in the second half to top Corinth Wednesday Feb. 9.
Matt McGowan added 16 points for the Warriors, who had a 45-20 second-half scoring advantage. Aaron Chambers put up seven points, Matt Stover and J.D. Jenkins each had six points with one three-pointer for Jenkins.
For the game, Jeff Maldonado put up five points with one three points, Erik Jones had one three-pointer and Ryan Moll finished with one basket.
Eric Hernandez finished with 20 points to lead Corinth.
Bolton 66, Minerva-Newcomb 34
NEWCOMB - Bolton's Mitchell Jordon and Billy Smith combined to put up 37 points as the Eagles easily beat Minerva-Newcomb in non-league basketball action Thursday Feb. 10.
Jordon scored a game-high 19 points and Smith contributed 18 including two three-pointers. Tyler Calzada finished with five points including one three-pointer, Dustin French also had five points, while Matthew Smith and Evan Malone put up four apiece. Nathan Breault had three points and both Caleb Kneeshaw and Andy Smith put up two in the win.
Austin Williams' 10 points led the Mountaineers.
Warrensburg 51, North Warren 30
CHESTERTOWN - John Joseph put up 19 points and Mike Curtis added 12 including two three-pointers to lead Warrensburg past North Warren Friday Feb. 11.
Jacob Siletti, Tyler Williams and Hunter Werner each contributed five points apiece with one three-pointer each for Siletti and Williams. Corey Chadwell had one three-pointer and Nick Monroe finished with one basket.
Joe Aiken netted 10 points to lead the Cougars with two three-pointers. Travis Monroe finished with eight points, Nick Sapienza had six, Benn Fraiser had five and Ethan Schenke put up one point in the loss.
With the win, Warrensburg evened up their season record to 7-7 in the Adirondack League and 8-9 overall. north Warren slipped to 0-14 in the league and 1-16 overall.
