PLATTSBURGH - With a balanced inside-outside attack, the Patriots proved too much for the Knights in CVAC boys basketball Dec. 10.
Jamie Hart was nearly unstoppable down low, pouring in 24 points from the center position to lead all scorers. AuSable Valley also combined for seven 3-pointers, including 2 apeice from T.J. Burl and Matt Hamilton, who scored 16 and 10, respectively.
Alex Fregeau led Seton with 22 poins while Kaleb Gohlke chipped in 14 for the Knights, who dressed just seven players for the game.
Schroon Lake 51, Willsboro 48 OT
WILLSBORO - Free throws proved to be the difference as Schroon Lake grabbed an overtime win from Willsboro in MVAC boys basketball Dec. 11.
Ethan Tyrrell and Brennan Bush combined to shoot six of seven free throws in the extra period while Willsboro went 1-for-7 from the charity stripe.
Lucas Strong led the Warriors with 13, including a 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter that helped close the Wildcats' lead. Justin Drinkwine's free throws with 10 seconds remaining sent the game into overtime. Alex Hamel added 12 points to go along with 11 rebounds and 8 assists.
Tyrell led all scorers with 22 for the Wildcats, and Bush added 18.
Elizabethtown-Lewis 50, Chazy 42
ELIZABETHTOWN - With the score tied at halftime, Elizabethtown-Lewis had a strong second half to defend their home court against Chazy Dec. 11.
Tyler Barton led all scorers with 20 for the Lions, and pulled down several rebounds as well. Evan Drew added 12 for the home team.
Chazy's balanced scoring attack was led by Shea Howley with 11 and Kenny Bulriss with 10.
Westport 57, Keene 24
WESTPORT - Nine players scored for Westport as they put together a 57-24 rout against visiting Keene in MVAC boys basketball Dec. 11.
Nathan Gay led the Eagles with 19, hitting nine field goals. Curtis Meade and Bo McKinley had 11 and 10, respectively, as Westport improved to 4-0.
Luke Andrews paced the Beavers with eight points.
AVCS 77, Lake Placid 18
CLINTONVILLE - The Patriots made light work of Lake Placid in CVAC boys basketball Dec. 12.
Ricky Lee and Ryan Murphy led the charge with 12 points apeice as every dressed player scored for AuSable Valley.
The patriots combined for 19 points from the free-throw line.
Anthony and James Kordziel led the Blue Bombers, combining for 12 points.
Willsboro 37, Chazy 30
WILLSBORO - Willsboro continued their winning ways with a low-scoring victory over Chazy in MVAC girls basketball Dec. 10
Alicia Mahoney led the Warriors with 12, and Ashley Sherman added 10 as Willsboro improved to 3-0 in their first home game of the season.
The Warriors played lock-down defense for much of the game, taking a 31-18 lead after three quarters.
Stephanie Pepper paced Chazy with 10 points.
Westport 61, Keene 16
KEENE - The Beavers struggled to find the net as Westport took a decisive victory on the road in MVAC girls basketball Dec. 11.
Martha McKinley and Sarah Gibbs led the Eagles with 12 apeice and Rebecca White added 10 as 10 players scored for Westport, which improved to 3-0 for the season.
Emma Nye and Summer Reed were the only two Beavers to score with 12 and 4, respectively.
AuSable Valley 60, Lake Placid 50
LAKE PLACID - A strong third quarter spurred AuSable Valley past the Blue Bombers in CVAC girls basketball Dec. 11.
Taking a narrow 28-25 lead into halftime, the Patriots poured on the points after halftime, outscoring Lake Placid 17-9 in the third quarter.
Michelle Taylor hit four 3-pointers for the Patriots, adding to her total of 15 points. Zoe Saulsgiver also had 15, while Alexis Coolidge led with 19.
Lake Placid's Megan Riley led all scorers with 20, and Cierra Stephenson added 10.
Elizabethtown-Lewis 48, Chazy 39
CHAZY - Despite a strong third quarter from the Eagles, Elizabethtown-Lewis came away with a road win in MVAC girls basketball Dec. 12.
The Lions took a 22-12 lead into halftime, but Chazy battled back with 20 points in the third, closing to within three before ELCS pulled away for the victory.
Senior center Riley Diemand was key for the Lions with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Kelsey Gibson, Brittany Pajak, and Plance each chipped in 8 points.
Stephanie Pepper led Chazy with 12 points.
AuSable Valley 58, Beekmantown 45
BEEKMANTOWN - AuSable Valley added to their win streak Dec. 15 with a decisive victory over Beekmantown in CVAC girls basketball.
Sophomore forward Alexis Coolidge once again provided the scoring punch for the Patriots with 22 points. Jessie Walton added 14 from the frontcourt as well to help push AVCS to 4-0.
Together the Patriots outscored the Eagles in the first three quarters, including a 24-point third quarter.
Nicole Shepler and Shannon Passno each scored 10 points for Beekmantown.
Willsboro 67, Johnsburg 11
WILLSBORO - 11 players found their way into the scoring column for the Warriors as Willsboro put on a dominant performance against visiting Johnsburg in MVAC girls basketball Dec. 16
The Warriors jumped out to an early 20-3 lead and allowed no more than 4 points in each quarter. Randi Lauren Swires led the offensive attack with 13 points while Ashley Sherman and Jade Sayward had 11 and 10, respectively.
