MIDDLEBURY - The Bridport Grange No. 303 and the Addison County Farm Bureau will once again sponsor a fresh round of legislative breakfasts for 2011.
This year's discussions will focus on jobs, the state economy, the environment and other issues of interest to voters and government officials in Montpelier.
These annual morning public events - a tradition in Addison County - are held in several county locations; this year's meeting schedule includes one agricultural lunch (see below).
The four-month-long program offer citizens an opportunity to meet their legislators and voice concerns about issues important to them - from farming and guns to the environment and taxes.
While the legislators are asked to speak during the roundtables, the emphasis is on listening - that is, elected officials listening to the voice of local voters.
Breakfasts will start at 7 a.m. with the legislative programs beginning at 7:30. The sessions will end at 8:45 a.m. The March 21 lunch in Bridport starts at noon and ends at 1:45 p.m. Purchase of breakfast is not required, however, sales help defray the cost of opening and heating the various participating halls.
