ELIZABETHTOWN-An annual walk begun to honor a brother is again seeking participants.
The annual Breathe For Nate Walk is set to take place on Saturday, May 7, at 3 p.m., starting at the Elizabethtown Social Center.
The walk was founded by Carlee Hammond as a fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and a deserving senior at Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School.
All to honor her brother, Nathan Hammond.
"Nathan battled cystic fibrosis for his whole life and lost his fight April 25, 2007, when he was 16," Hammond said. "Nathan was known by everyone in the community. Every year, I hold a walk in his memory, and the money is for a scholarship for a senior every year at ELCS. Another portion of the money we donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation."
Registration for the walk starts at 2:30 at the Elizabethtown Social Center on May 7. Participants pay $25 and they get a T-shirt and are invited to a barbecue at the Cobble Hill Inn afterwards.
"During the barbecue, I hold a 50/50 raffle and a Chinese auction with items donated by local businesses," Hammond said.
