LUDLOW - The Friends of the Library will present the second of a two part series on World Religions on Thursday, May 20 at 7 p.m. at the library. Nancy Tanzer will discuss Hinduism and Buddhism, the religions of Asia.
Hinduism, the oldest of the religions, is a mixture of sects, cults and doctrines which has had profound effects on the culture of India. Its goal is union with Brahman, the ultimate reality and there are many ways and gods to believe in to achieve this.
Buddhism is more a philosophy than a religion. Zen Buddhism, one of the best known sects, believes that truth lies in existence itself and can best be achieved through meditation.
