INDIAN LAKE - The Town of Indian Lake will host its annual Winter Festival Weekend Feb. 13-15 (President's Day weekend). Throughout the weekend, visitors and residents are invited to take part in dozens of fun and family-oriented activities.
Festival events will begin Friday, Feb. 13 with a Sweetheart's Pasta Dinner and Movie served-up by the ILCS Class of 2012 from 5-6:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Following the dinner, the Indian Lake Theatre will present a special 7:30 p.m. showing of the movie, "Inkheart."
On Saturday and Sunday mornings, a home-style eggs and pancake breakfast will be served for a nominal fee at the Indian Lake Fire Hall from 7-11 a.m.
A book and cookie sale, sponsored by the Indian Lake Friends of the Library, will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Town Hall. The Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce will host a craft fair during the day on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All are welcome to enjoy one of the community's favorite gatherings and go home with some great finds.
The Indian/Blue Mountain Lake Fish & Game Association will hold its annual snowshoe trip on Saturday. A destination is pending. Each year the group travels to an easily accessible area for fun and enjoyment.
On Saturday the United Methodist Church will host its annual roast beef dinner at their Main Street location. Take out will be available at 4:30 p.m. Price will be $8 for adults and $3.50 for children. Children under five eat for free. At 7 p.m. on Saturday, the much-anticipated Tricky Tray (Chinese Auction) will be held at the Indian Lake Central School gym, sponsored by the ILCS Class of 2010. This increasingly popular event has become one of the weekend's highlights. All are welcome to join in and have fun while supporting local students.
Don't miss the immensely popular Jalapeno Eating Contest hosted by Marty's Chili Nights.
Additional weekend events include a Snowmobile Poker Game, a blacksmithing demonstration, kids games, bed races, an open house at the Indian Lake Museum, and much more.
On Sunday, the attention will be turned toward ski and snowboard races on the town's ski-hill, weather permitting. The town's ski tow will feature free passes and will be open throughout the festival weekend.
Winterfest celebrations will conclude on Sunday evening at the ski tow, with a lighted torch run, community bonfire, and fireworks display. The fireworks display, sponsored by the Town of Indian Lake, is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m.
