WARRENSBURG The top seeded Lady Burgers Field Hockey team proved to be too much to handle Saturday as they over-powered the fourth-seeded North Warren squad for a 6-0 win in the Class CC Section II semifinals. The Lady Burgers continually attacked the North Warren goal, amassing an astounding 25 shots on goal. North Warren goalie Sarah Erickson saved 19 of them, but the volume was simply too much. Our front line applied consistent pressure, Warrensburg Coach Mary Ann Bump said Tuesday. Their goal keeper played really wellshe made 19 saves. The Lady Burgers defense was equally impressive allowing only a single shot on goal, which was stopped by goal keeper Drew Lamy. It was an all-around great team effort, Bump said. Its not the work of one, but the work of many. Tuesday, the Lady Burgers were preparing to play the number-three seed, Germantown, on Thursday at Knox Field in Johnstown at 7 p.m. for the Sectional championship. We dont know a lot about them (Germantown), Bump said. But we are looking forward to the match-up. Germantown defeated the second seed, Johnsburg 1-0 on Saturday.
