CHAZY - On Tuesday, Feb. 16, the New York State Police in Chazy arrested Randy F. Therrien, 45, and Wendy E. Patch, 39, both of Milton, Vt. Therrien was charged with four counts of second degree burglary, fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property and possession of burglars tools. Patch was charged with one count of second degree burglary.
The investigation revealed the two suspects burglarized four Northern Tier homes and stole a snowmobile trailer in the process. An alert resident who obtained a description of a possible suspect vehicle called troopers and responding patrols were able to locate the vehicle and take the pair into custody. The pair where using a similar MO to a past daytime burglary spree. They would approach a residence during daytime hours and if someone answered the door, they would ask about the resident having something for sale, which they didn't. If no one was home, the residence was broken into and items stolen.
State local residents to be alert to this type of activity. If someone knocks on your door and asks for someone that does not reside there or asks a strange or suspicious type question, attempt to get a description of the vehicle, maybe a plate number, and a description of the subjects. Do not attempt to confront the persons. Call police immediately.
Therrien and Patch were arraigned in the town of Champlain Justice Court, before the Honorable Jack Favreau. Therrien was committed to the Clinton County Jail on no bail pending a felony hearing at a later date. Patch posted $500 bail and was released pending further court action. The investigation is continuing and anyone with any additional information is asked to call state police at 563-3761.
