RUTLAND TOWN - On May 31, at approximately 12:11 p.m., Vermont State Police responded to a two vehicle crash on U.S. Route 7 in front of the Green Mountain Shopping Plaza in Rutland Town.
The responding trooper spoke to Michael Griswold of Clarendon, the operator of a Toyota truck, who told him that he believed the car in front of his had turned right at which time he began to pull forward as he looked to his left for on coming traffic. Griswold said that as he did, his truck bumped into the car ahead of him.
The trooper also spoke with Marlene Hutchins of Leicester the operator of the second vehicle, a Ford Focus, who told him that she was stopped at the intersection and was waiting for traffic to pass by at which time the truck hit her car's bumper.
Investigation revealed that as Hutchins was awaiting for traffic to clear the intersection in front of the plaza, Griswold pulled behind her car. As Griswold also watched for traffic, he believed that Hutchins had pulled away, however, she had not at which time his truck collided into the rear bumper of Hutchins 2012 Ford Focus. Hutchins advised the responding paramedics that she had a sore neck as a result of the collision.
Hutchins' vehicle sustained minor damage, while Griswold's truck sustained minor scratches on the front bumper.
