U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers have arrested a Colorado man wanted on kidnapping charges.
On Aug. 28, CBP officers working at the Champlain Port of Entry encountered Todd Daniel Wilcox, 49, of Colorado Springs, Colo., in the custody of Canada Border Services Agency. Wilcox had been staying in Canada illegally since 1997, and was recently arrested by Canadian authorities in Quebec on theft charges. He was deported back to the U.S. Aug. 29 under arrangements made with the U.S. Marshals Service.
During a secondary examination, additional record checks confirmed Wilcox was the subject of an active arrest warrant issued out of Colorado Springs for second-degree kidnapping.
CBP officers verified the validity of the warrant and confirmed Wilcox’s extradition to Colorado. Wilcox was arrested by CBP and turned over to the custody of the New York State Police pending extradition to Colorado.
