Between April and July, U.S. Census employees will be visiting every dwelling in neighborhood across Warren and Essex counties, as their counterparts across the nation will be doing likewise.
In order to conduct the 2010 census, the U.S. Census Bureau is seeking to determine the address and location of every place people reside.
Census employees will be wearing official identification and carry hand-held computers to record physical addresses and their GPS coordinates, Warren County Sheriff Bud York said this week.
Those with questions are encouraged to call Warren County Planning Dept. employee Laura Moore at 761-6410.
But those area citizens who are approached by anyone who claims to be a census taker but can't provide certified government identification - or those who witness any other suspicious activity - should take action, York said.
To report any questionable activities, call the Warren County Sheriff's Dept. immediately at 743-2500 or the state Police at 583-7000, county Sheriff Bud York said.
