NORTH CREEK - Over the past three years, The Gore Mountain/Town of Johnsburg Chamber of Commerce has been deep in study and analysis of how to bring healthy development to the area. They will present the results of its branding project for the Gore Mountain Region at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at the Copperfield Inn.
The regional chamber, developed in 2007, sought out the Glen Group of North Conway, NH to act as consultants on the project. Nancy Clark, owner and president of the Glen Group will present the recommended branding including a new logo and other graphics, a tagline, and a "Brand Promise" for the region.
The goal of this brand project is to create a definitive Gore Mountain Region brand so that it can be incorporated throughout the Gore Mountain Region through the Chamber of Commerce and its membership. The branding efforts will be incorporated into all marketing, advertising and other communications. Chamber members, project supporters and interested citizens are urged to attend.
"We live in a threatened area, and in difficult economic times," said past chamber president Ed Milner. "This is a serious and well-thought out effort to do something positive about economics in our area."
The Gore Mountain Region, as described in the project, includes all or portions of the communities in the towns of Indian Lake, Johnsburg, Minerva, Newcomb, Chester, and Warrensburg - parts of three counties and more than a dozen hamlets. The chamber seeks to recognize the commonalities of the communities clustered around Gore Mountain and the Upper Hudson River, and the distinctive features each offers as part of the larger community.
Materials studied in development of the regional brand included focus group interviews with area residents and businesses, Internet surveys, and a major review of ski industry data. Glen Group, a full-service marketing agency with a specialty in resort marketing conducted the research, analysis and strategic planning.
The project has been funded by a combination of Town of Johnsburg Occupancy Tax dollars plus matching funds from local individuals and businesses.
This project represents a major effort to facilitate marketing messages from throughout the community, recognizing the unique features our region offers to attract Adirondack visitors.
