PLATTSBURGH - The Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a special seminar titled "NSPF Certified Pool/Spa Operator," Thursday, April 23, and Friday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the chamber offices, 7061 State Route 9. The National Swimming Pool Foundations CPO Course will be presented by Paul Blake of American Pool Consultants. The course includes new chapters and updated information vital to the pool/spa operator.
Registration includes the NSPF Certified Pool/Spa Operator Handbook, all instructional materials and handouts, exam, and upon passing the exam, certification. Participants must be in attendance both days and present valid photo identification in order to take the exam at the end of day two. Course materials includes pool water contamination, disinfection, chemical feed and control, heating and air circulation, keeping records, and regulations and guidelines.
The CPO course is an intensive 14 hours of instruction, followed by an open-book exam recognized in all states that require certification pool/spa operators. Participants will earn their certification as a pool/spa operator with a grade of 75 percent or better on the exam. The certification is good for five years from the date of initial certification.
Space is limited and advance registration is required. Registration is $225 for chamber members and $295 for nonmembers. The class includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
